Bridget
Jones's Diary Renee Zellweger stars as Bridget Jones,
a thirtysomething Londoner who is unhappy with her life. She feels
that she is overweight, smokes too much, drinks too much, and makes
terrible relationship choices. The film opens at a Christmas party
where Bridget's mother tries yet again to set Bridget up with "Mr.
Right". In this case, it's Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), a stuffy

American
Pie 2 Picks up one year after the conclusion
of the first film, as the familiar characters are finishing their
first year of college. Jim (Jason Biggs) is still the consummate loser.
Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) has had a good year, but still pines for
lost love Vicki (Tara Reid). Oz (Chris Klein) is still dating Heather
(Mena Suvari), but is sad that she will be
spending the summer in Europe. And Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) has taken
up the study of Eastern philosophies, but can't forget about Stifler's
Mom (Jessica Coolidge). The old gang reunites at a party thrown by
Stifler (Seann William Scott) and realize that they have to put their
high-school years behind them and move forward. Kevin suggests that
he, Jim, Oz, and Finch rent a lake-house and throw a wild party to
cap off the summer. |

Ferris
Bueller's Day Off Writer-director John Hughes had already
made Sixteen Candles and Breakfast Club by 1986, and it seemed like
there was no stopping him. For teenagers in the eighties, John Hughes
movies were perfect fantasy worlds where anything can happen. This
is brought to a head in Ferris Bueller's Day off, in which not only
can anything happen, but Ferris Bueller himself can make virtually
anything happen. Ferris hacks into the school's computer to change
his attendance figures. He sets up clever ways of convincing his
parents and others that he's staying home from school because he's
terribly ill. He even talks to the camera. This little device has
been way overused in TV shows, but when Ferris did it, it was still
somewhat original. |

Josie
and the Pussycats
Josie and the Pussycats" opens with the mysterious disappearance
of the boy-band DuJour (played with tongue in cheek aplomb by Seth
Green, Breckin Meyer, Donald Faison, and Alexander Martin), the "#1
Band in the World". Desperately in need of a new band to promote,
record executive Wyatt Frame (Alan Cumming) finds himself in the town
of Riverdale, where he discovers The Pussycats. The Pussycats are
made up of Josie, guitars and vocals
(Rachael Leigh Cook), Val, bass (Rosario Dawson), and Melody, drums
(Tara Reid). Before Wyatt came to town, The Pussycats had been scraping
by playing small gigs, such as the local bowling alley, which had
been arranged by their manager Alexander Cabot (Paulo Costanzo), who
is never without his sister Alexandra (Missi Pyle). When the girls
weren't playing or practicing, Josie spent her time pining over Alan
M. (Gabriel Mann). |

Legally
Blonde" tells the story of one Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon).
Elle is a young, beautiful, blonde senior at California U., where
she is president of her sorority and all-around "big girl on
campus." She's also dating Warner (Matthew Davis), a handsome
young man with a promising future. That is, she's dating him right
up until the point where he dumps her, explaining that her look
and personality don't jibe with his political aspirations. Elle
is heart-broken, until she realizes that the only way to win Warner
back is to become the kind of woman that he wants. She decides that
she can accomplish this feat by following him to Harvard Law School.
Once Elle has beaten the odds and become a student at Harvard Law,
she findsthat she has entered a totally new world. First of all,
Warner isn't very glad to see her, and neither is his new girlfriend
(Selma Blair). The students are all very smart, very preppy, and
very serious, and aren't interested in Elle's peppy, good-time attitude.
She gets a similar reception from her professors. Besides her dog,
Bruiser, the only confidants that Elle finds is fellow student Emmett
(Luke Wilson) and manicurist Paulette (Jennifer Coolidge). When
Elle is chosen to assist on a real case, she realizes that she now
has a chance to prove that she's gone to law schoolfor herself,
and not to impress anyone else. Also Fantstic wardrobe on the girl!

"The
Rocky Horror Picture Show" tells the quirky story of the young
couple Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick) and Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon)
who, in their almost asexual inhibitions, have never really experienced
life at its fullest. All this changes when one night they are stuck
in the rain with a flat tire, miles away from civilization. With only
a sinister looking castle looming nearby, the two decide to ring the
doorbell to see if they can use the telephone and get some help. From
there, their life will never be the same. When Riff Raff (Richard
O'Brien) opens the door, this ghastly and macabre looking servant
allows the wet couple into the house where they become witness to
one of
Frank-N-Furter's (Tim Curry) parties. Dressed in straps and high heels,
Frank-N-Furter welcomes his guests and immediately makes them part
of the
event. In the best Frankensteinmanner he creates Rocky, the man of
his dreams, and fights his inner demons with increasingly excessive
behavior.
But is it genius or madness that drives Frank? It is neither. Like
many of his party guests, he is an alien from the galaxy of Transylvania
experiencing earthly life for the first time, and Brad and Janet are
suddenly trapped in a circle of Fear beyond their wildest imagination.

Little
Nicky "Little Nicky" tells the story of Nicky (Adam
Sandler), the youngest son of the devil. Nicky lives in Hell and enjoys
listening to heavy metal music, and despises his evil older brothers,
Adrian (Rhys Ifans) and Cassius (Tommy "Tiny" Lister, Jr.).
Satan (Harvey Keitel) announces that after 10,000 years of ruling,
it may be time for the throne to be passed to one of his sons. But,
as none of them seem fit for the job (Adrian and Cassius are too mean,
and Nicky is too sweet), Satan ultimately decides that he will keep
the throne for himself. Angered by this decision, Adrian and Cassius
flee to Earth, where they plan to rule. Their departure from Hell
closes the gates of Hell, thus shutting down the influx of new souls.
This, in turn, causes Satan to begin to decompose. Satans only hope
is for the shy and awkward Nicky to go to Earth and bring Adrian and
Cassius back to Hell. |
