Quite
possibly the best of John Hughes's films. This is a story about a young
girl Andie who is played by Morry Ringwald (who made being ginger partially
cool in the 80's) Anyway she dresses in pink a lot which makes her cool
in my book. And the film also contains lots of 80's heart throbs, such as Andrew Mccarthy (are you sensing a pattern here!) and James Spader. Jon Cryer plays Andies obsessed best friend Ducky who wants to be more than her best friend!
Andie comes from the wrong side of the tracks, where she lives with her depressed/out of work father. Her kooky style attracts one of the school rich kids who is called Blane (Quote..Duckie: His name is Blane? That's a major appliance, that's not a name!) Neither of them are welcome in each other's circles and this causes problems in their relationship.
Try a little
tenderness scene. This was
the funniest scene in the film, where Ducky, who has a crush on Andie comes
in to the record shop where she works and without saying a word performs
a belting "miming" reindition of "Try a little tenderness"
complete with hip thrusts! Fantastic!
