This is your typical super-hero type story. A normal person, leading a normal life transforms into someone or something that is capable of saving the world from whatever disaster hides around the corner. Only difference is that normal super heros do have an IQ higher than their shoe size. If Bananaman's IQ was any lower, he'd trip over it. But saying that, he does get the job done. Usually with the help of his side-kick Crow, who tries to breath a little bit of intelligence into the under-worked banana-brain.
